So I've started watching season 1 of Angel on DVD recently...haven't seen the show in years. I gotta say other than having Charisma Carpenter, they didn't have a whole lot going for them. The stories were pretty bad, special effects were horrible, and I can't see what I liked in the show back then (other than Charisma).

I sorta agree with you - it's clear the budget was pretty low to begin with. However, for me at least, it improves steadily throughout its run and ends on a real high note.

I'm in the middle of season 2 now...yeah, it gets a little better...but yeah, many scenes look like they were filmed in the basement of some warehouse...
